A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his first championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one match at the big events and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in particular - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a tightly fought competitive win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden title following the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has won 21 titles at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," stated ranked player the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had led observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the highest level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four initial chances in a competitive third set before Medvedev secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the net area, with his opponent failing to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
